Qigong is the study and practice of cultivating vital life-force through various techniques, including:
Qi means "breath" or "air" and is considered the "vital-life-force" or "life-force energy." Qigong practitioners believe that this vital life force penetrates and permeates everything in the universe.
Gong means "work" or "effort" and is the commitment an individual puts into any practice or skill that requires time, patience, and repetition to perfect.
Through study, the individual aims to develop the ability to manipulate Qi in order to promote self-healing, prevent disease, and increase longevity.

Steve Kolter (Won DoMyung) is a certified Qigong instructor and Usui Holy Fire III Reiki Master Practitioner. He has been practicing various forms of meditation and yoga since 2011 and has studied Qigong for 6 years. Steve has taken precepts with the Won Buddhist lineage, is a founding member of the Mindful Recovery sangha in Glenmoore, PA, and is affiliated with the Buddhist Recovery Network.
As a dedicated Won Buddhist, his practice is informed by Taoist and Zen Buddhist teachings. Steve believes anyone of any skill level can enhance their life by learning to work with the natural energetic force of the Universe called Qi. His goal is to share the healing power of these ancient spiritual practices with all, thus bringing greater light, love, and understanding into this transitional era.
Steve's classes meet you where you are in your own journey. He teaches the philosophy behind the methods in a fun and practical way. No experience is necessary to join any of his qigong classes.
Stephen has used these modalities to assist with his own recovery from addiction, a path he began in August of 2013. He firmly believes in a holistic approach to recovery and is always willing to talk to anyone who is struggling with the effects of addiction.
Stephen’s other interests include composing music, backpacking, running, and mountain biking.

About the Class: This class will cover the basics of Qigong and aid you in forming your own individual moving meditation practice. Qigong is an ancient form of energy work, using sound vibration, motion, and pressure to unblock our hidden energy reserves. Together, we will restore balance in our bodies, minds, and spirits. Each class will review basic Qigong philosophy and movements culminating in Bagua Circle walking, then finally a guided meditation.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start time dressed in loose-fitting clothing and bring a meditation cushion, bench, or pillow.

This workshop with qigong instructor and Reiki master, Steve Kolter, is open to any level practitioner of Usui and Holy Fire Reiki.
We will explore the fundamentals of qigong, an ancient modality for working with healing energy and we will discuss ways this powerful energy practice can enhance your reiki practice. No experience in qigong is necessary. All you need is an open mind and a willing spirit.
Together, we will discuss ways to use movement, tapping, self-massage, and sound energy to cultivate qi, the energy of the universe. We will combine overlapping elements of Usui/Holy Fire Reiki and use our reiki attunements/placements to enhance qi.
This practical workshop will provide you with tools to begin your own daily qigong practice. Participants will be given video and written materials to take home.
Please bring a notebook if you would like to take notes, a water bottle, bagged lunch, a yoga mat, and/or a meditation pillow, and wear loose comfortable clothing.
